Shifty (2008) is a British urban crime thriller, written and directed by Eran Creevy. Set on the outskirts of London and filmed in Borehamwood, Shifty follows themes of friendship and loyalty over the course of 24 hours in the life of a young drug dealer, the charismatic Shifty. Shifty was filmed predominantly in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, the home of Elstree Studios. Based on Eran Creevy's teenage experiences, and boasting convincing performances from a cast of rising stars, as well as veteran actors Jason Flemyng and Francesca Annis, the film was funded by Film London's Microwave scheme[2] and delivered after a shooting schedule of just 18 days.[3]
Plot[edit]
Shifty Station is the title given to a series of multiplayer stages in Splatoon 2. The stages were originally only available during Splatfests, but were made available in Private Battles starting with Version 5.0.0. Only one Shifty Station appeared per Splatfest, except for Chaos vs. Order and Super Mushroom vs. Shifty is a scheduling app for small businesses and individuals. The basis of Shifty is to enter all the data which rarely ever changes, such as shift patterns, staff and duties. After that's in the system making schedules is just dragging and dropping combinations of those items. Shifty was originally designed to be used by restaurants, pubs.
After four years, Chris returns to where he grew up, it seems at first to attend a party, but his real motive is to catch up with his old buddy, Shifty who he left behind. Whilst away, Chris has settled into responsible adult life, with a mortgage and a good job, but he is shocked to discover that Shifty has been dealing cocaine for some time, supplied by the double dealing Glen.
Although happy to see him, Shifty has not fully forgiven Chris for leaving in the first place, and it is soon learned that the circumstances under which Chris left are more complicated than they first seemed. They spend the next 24 hours together, with Chris watching Shifty as he deals to a variety of increasingly desperate customers from the community.
Over the course of this day they are forced to confront the ghosts from the past that drove Chris away and the desperate and dangerous present that Shifty finds himself in, whilst re-discovering their friendship. Chris is once again given an opportunity to prove his loyalty to Shifty and to try to ultimately save Shifty from himself.

Reception[edit]
The film has a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes out of 25 reviews. Many claimed that despite a very low budget, the film's actors and storyline was of the highest calibre, and therefore was a well formed, character-driven debut for Creevy.[9] However, customers on Amazon.co.uk only gave an average review of 3.5 stars, with some claiming that the film's low budget left it with a dialogue-driven production with little or no action to add to proceedings.[10]

- Best Supporting Actor (Daniel Mays)

Trivia
- Marina claims to have helped make the stage herself, which is shown by her symbol appearing on the stage image.
- As Marina mentions often in the news segments, she was raised around Octarian machinery, which would explain why many of the Shifty Station variants contain at least one of the Octo Valley and Octo Canyonmechanics.
- This is elaborated on further in the Octo Expansion. In Marina's chat room, Pearl mentions how Marina creates these stages all by herself, while Cap'n Cuttlefish notes the Octarian technology used, such as floating rocks, from Marina's time as a combat engineer for DJ Octavio.
- Every Shifty Station's name is a reference to a work in some form of media. The English version references titles of young adult Western novels, while in the Japanese version references titles of Japanese shōjo manga.
- Shifty Station's name is a reference to the fact that it is not the same every Splatfest.
- On one of the stations there is an Inkjet glitch that allows the player to clip through the wall.
- The internal code name for this stage in the game files is 'Deli'.
- An unused variant of Shifty Station has the file name 'Deli04' and the code name 'Box'.
- Between the debut of Shifty Station in Mayo vs. Ketchup (2017) and the final Shifty Station in Chaos vs. Order, November 2017 and June 2018 were the only months not to introduce a new variation.
- Pulp vs. No-Pulp used Zappy Longshocking, which first appeared in Japan for the New Lifeform vs. Future Tech Splatfest in April.
- Hello Kitty vs. My Melody used A Swiftly Tilting Balance, which first appeared in North America, Oceania, and Europe for the Raph vs. Donnie Splatfest.
- The Shifty Stations appear to be built in Octarian Domes, and share many similarities with them, such as having floating objects and octopus-shaped rocks. However, this has not been confirmed.
- In Private Battles, the four variants that were featured during seasonal Splatfests (Railway Chillin', Flooders in the Attic, Bridge to Tentaswitchia, and MC.Princess Diaries) still have the stickers and graffiti that decorated them during Chaos vs. Order. These stickers are displayed regardless of team ink color.
