If you already own Toast 6, you can purchase an upgrade to the full Toast with Jam. If you have Toast already installed on your system, FIRST make sure to update it to the version that came with your Toast with Jam 6 disc or electronic download (Toast 6 Titanium v6.0.4 or later). Roxio Inc. announced Monday that Toast 6 Titanium, a new version of its CD and DVD burning software for the Mac, will hit store shelves in early September. The new version adds new photo and video capabilities, support for networked burning, plug-and-play camcorder connectivity and much more.

Toast 6 Titanium now supports all audio and video formats recognized by QuickTime, and can burn Video CDs, Super VCDs and DVDs all equipped with menus, buttons and chapters that can be played back on a home DVD player or on other computers. The interface has been reworked, as well.

A new feature called ToastAnywhere enables Toast 6 Titanium users to share their CD and DVD burners across local networks on the Internet. Users can share recorders or set systems up to act as shared burning servers. Plug & Burn is another new feature as well: It enables users to plug-in DV camcorders, click “record” and see their home videos transferred and burned to disc automatically.

Users can also drag and drop photos from iPhoto to create full-screen slideshows; a new “Motion Pictures” feature adds the “Ken Burns effect”-style pan and zoom technique to slideshows also.

Spin Doctor 2 is included with Toast 6 Titanium. The software enables users to digitize music from vinyl records, tapes and other analog sources, or record live audio performances, and sports a reworked interface and new filters that help reduce noise and enhance the quality of sound.

With QuickTime and Universal Audio & Video Converters, Toast 6 Titanium now enables you to drag and drop any QuickTime audio, image or video file format onto the application to create audio CDs, enhanced audio CDs, Video CDs, Super VCDs and DVDs.

A new “Toast It” contextual menu item is available that enables you to burn files and folders directly from the desktop using Toast 6 Titanium’s own burning engine (rather that Mac OS X’s Disc Burner software).

Toast 6 Titanium Pro

Toast 6 Titanium also includes an automatic backup scheduler that lets you back up and burn data to CD and DVDs using 128-bit AES encryption and password protection.

System requirements for Toast 6 Titanium call for a G3 or higher; Mac OS X v10.2 or higher; QuickTime 6 or higher; CD or DVD recorder (optional, however, if you plan to use ToastAnywhere).

Toast 6 Titanium Edition

Toast 6 Titanium ships in early September in North America and the UK; Europe and Asia follow in October. Roxio is now accepting pre-orders. Toast 6 Titanium will carry a suggested retail price of US$99.95. Users of previous versions can get a $20 mail-in rebate.

Roxio is also collaborating with the Apple Store to promote Toast 6 Titanium’s release with “Don’t Burn It. Toast It.” launch parties. The events start on September 6, 2003 at the Apple Store SoHo in New York City. Additional events are planned for September 13 in The Grove in Los Angeles and September 20 in Palo Alto, Calif.
